Brentford v Darlington

Following their exit in the FA Cup Quakers will travel to Brentford looking to preserve their good league form. Whilst Darlington suffered defeat in their cup replay against Drolysden during midweek their form in Coca-Cola League Two remains excellent.


Penney denies abandonment claims

Darlington manager Dave Penney has denied claims from Droylsden boss Dave Pace that he asked for the FA Cup first round replay to be called off. Quakers lost the match 1-0 as they crashed out of the competition at the first stage.

Quakers slipped out of the FA Cup with a miserable performance against non-league Droylsden. Over the two, first round games the Conference North Stand were worthy winners with Darlington failing to muster even a goal against their opponents.

Same again says Gray ahead of cup replay

Darlington assistant manager Martin Gray is looking for the team to take the same battling qualities and commitment into their FA Cup replay with Droylsden tonight. Quakers drew 0-0 when the team's first met.

Following their superb result against Lincoln City at the weekend Darlington will travel to Droylsden on a high despite missing the services of Steve Foster and Franz Burgmeier. Quakers played much of their previous game with ten men but showed plenty of grit.

It looked as if Darlington were ready to become unstuck against the Imps. Within quarter of an hour skipper Steve Foster was dismissed leaving his team-mates to play against an improving Lincoln City side with just ten men. Hard work though sealed three points.

Darlington manager Dave Penney could make changes to his side. Whilst Quakers are currently hindered by the transfer window the Darlington boss can still use the loan market if he wishes until the window reopens in January.

Proudlock joins Grimsby Town on loan

Darlington forward Adam Proudlock has joined Grimsby Town on loan until the start of January. He becomes Grimsby manager Mike Newell's first signing since arriving at the club.

Alan White's fourth goal of the season pushed Darlington through to the Northern Semi-finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and continued the club's rich vain of form. Four wins in a row had moved Darlington to the summit of League Two and by the end of the evening Dave Penney's men had made it five straight wins from five.

Darlington's clash with Bradford City at Valley Parade is set to be shown on Sky Sports. The Bantams met the Quakers during October for a league match which saw Darlington emerge with a 2-1 win.

Clayton Fortune joins Rushden on loan

Darlington defender Clayton Fortune has joined Conference side Rushden & Diamonds on loan. The former Bristol City player joined Darlington during the summer after being released by Leyton Orient and made his debut in the 1-1 draw with Exeter City on the opening afternoon of the season.

Darlington take on Bury tomorrow night as both sides try to secure a place in the Northern Semi-finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Quakers last made that stage of the competition in November 2006 when a Martin Smith stunner sealed their passage against Mansfield Town.

Darlington moved to the top of the table as Grimsby Town were left searching for their first win of the season. Two early goals put Quakers into the driving seat. The home side rallied after the break and made a fight of the proceedings but Darlington were not to be denied.
