Darlington recorded one of their best away results in years thanks to an excellent second half showing which saw them cruise to victory at Moss Rose. Billy Clarke was the main man scoring four times.

Former Darlington player dies aged 72

Former Darlington player Bobby Cummings has collapsed and died at the age of 72. The Ashington born centre forward was a success at virtually every club he played for however it was in his native North East where he enjoyed his best years.

Hatch joins Darlington on loan

Darlington have completed a loan move for Peterborough United forward Liam Hatch. The twenty-six year old has joined Quakers for three months however is not expected to make his debut at Macclesfield Town this coming weekend thanks to an ankle injury.

Watford needed extra time to see off Darlington in the second round of the League Cup. The home side took the lead through Damien Francis but Quakers equalised moments from the end to force the game into extra time.

Darlington start the first of three away games in a row tonight with a trip to Championship side Watford in the second round of the League Cup. Quakers knocked out Walsall in the previous round to set up the trip and will be hopeful of causing another upset.

Penney unhappy with late leveller

Darlington manager Dave Penney was happy with his side's performance during the 2-1 home defeat against Gillingham at the weekend. The Quakers' boss however was less pleased with the performance of Craig Pawson the match referee.

Missed chances and an appalling refereeing decision helped visitors Gillingham pick up their first win of the season. Quakers dragged themselves level from the penalty spot after Simeon Jackson's first half goal and appeared to be heading for a point until Garry Richard's last gasp scramble on the line earned Gillingham all three points.

Darlington entertain Gillingham this weekend looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season but also to pick up their first win of the campaign. Quakers have been unlucky not to record three points in the league yet but will be hopeful of correcting that against a Gillingham side which appears to be coming increasingly under fire from it's supporters.

Darlington manager Dave Penney believes that Jason Kennedy's Premiership upbringing is shining through at the club. The former Middlesbrough midfielder joined Darlington last season on loan and finished the campaign at Neasham Road before agreeing to a permanent deal in the summer.

Watford tickets on sale now

Darlington have confirmed that tickets for the club's Carling Cup match at Watford are now on sale from the ticket office. Quakers take on Watford in the second round having beaten Walsall. The match is due to be played on the 26th of August with kick off at 7.45pm.

Darlington are hoping to add an experienced international player to their ranks at some point in the very near future. Franz Burgmeier is due to join the club on a one year deal. The Liechtenstein international has almost 50 caps to his name and has spent several seasons in the Swiss Super League playing for FC Basel.

Darlington have been drawn away to Watford in the League Cup. Elswhere Macclesfield have been drawn away to Premier League side West Ham. Yeovil Town of League One, who upset Charlton in the first round on Tuesday, also face top-flight opponents with a trip to Middlesbrough.

Darlington will learn their opponents for the next round of the League Cup tonight. The first round saw a total of thirty-two clubs seal their place in the second round, with eight more teams battling it out later to be in the draw.

Darlington confirmed their place in round two of the League Cup with a 2-1 over Walsall. Quakers came from a goal behind to book their place in the next round and afterwards manager Dave Penney gave his reaction.

Darlington secured a place in the second round of the League Cup for the third time in five years at the expense of ten men Walsall. Quakers recovered well after going a goal behind and steered themselves into a possible meeting with a Premiership club in the next stage of the competition.

Darlington manager Dave Penney is not reading too much into the opening day draw with Exeter City. Speaking in the Northern Echo the Quakers' boss admitted it was something of a disappointment not to take all three points having had the lead however he admitted he wasn't overly concerned.

Darlington were held to a draw in their opening game of the season. Quakers were much the better side during the opening forty-five minutes and got themselves ahead from the penalty spot five minutes before the break. Exeter though were allowed back into the game thanks to a disappointing second period and grabbed a deserved point.

Darlington open their season against Exeter City who return to the football league following a five year absence. Exeter secured their promotion with a play-off final win against Cambridge United. It was a game few would have thought they would take part in following the first leg of the semi-finals.

Darlington have been handed a bye in the first round of the Johnston's Paints Trophy. A draw was made to decide which clubs would receive a bye today at the Football League's offices and Quakers were one of the teams drawn.

Darlington have finally confirmed the departure of striker Tommy Wright. It has been known for some time that Wright would depart the club for Aberdeen. The move means Darlington have signed Billy Clarke and Robin Hulbert.

Middlesbrough secure easy win over Quakers

Darlington were well beaten in their final pre-season match. Ahead of Saturday's opening League Two fixture against Exeter City Quakers were well beaten by a youthful but talented Middlesbrough side. In truth though few, if any, of Darlington's starting eleven will figure from the start against the Grecians this coming weekend.

Brown joins Quakers until New Year

Darlington have taken Brentford goalkeeper Simon Brown on loan until early January. The shot stopper played in Quakers' 1-0 defeat against St Mirren on Saturday and the news confirms that Andy Oakes, who has already been out for sometime with injury, will miss the start of the season.

A strong Darlington team fell to a 1-0 defeat against Scottish side St Mirren in a low key encounter. Only in the second half did Quakers provide anything of real note. Injury problems to the forward line once again caused Darlington problems with Adam Proudlock the only recognised striker to start the game.

Darlington are waiting until Tommy Wright's move to Aberdeen has been completed before they move for another forward to replace him. A fee has already been agreed with the Scottish club for Wright's move but the transfer has yet to take place due to a knee injury.
