Darlington signed Brentford goalkeeper Simon Brown on loan until early January before the start of the 2008/09 season. The experienced goalkeeper, who has turned out for Lincoln City and Colchester, joined the Bees from Scotish club Hibernian ahead of the 2007/08 campaign.
Brown started twenty-six league games for Brentford during the 2007/08 season and was in goal when Darlington won 2-0 at Griffin Park in November. Brown joined Darlington on loan after being told by Brentford boss Andy Scott that he would not be first choice at the club following the decision to bring Reading player Ben Hamer on loan to the club during the summer.
