Darlington born Alan White returned to his home town club ahead of the 2007/08 season. An experienced defender White has played over 300 league games for over five clubs. White started his career at Middlesbrough where he made only one appearance before moving on to Luton Town in 1997 where he became an instant regular.
White left Luton Town three years later for Colchester United, initially on loan, and he went on to become a favourite at Layer Road. He spent the 2004/05 season at Leyton Orient and then the 2005/06 season in defence at Boston United where he claimed the club's player of the year award.
In June 2006 White joined Notts County shortly after the appointment of then manager Steve Thompson. The Magpies boss saw White's vast experience as an important addition to his squad and was appointed captain. Despite this he finished the season on loan at Peterborough. Whilst the Posh showed their interest in securing his signature he moved to his home town club instead.
White brings a large amount of experience to the Darlington back line and during his first season at the club struck up a good understanding with skipper Steve Foster. The pair worked well together and it resulted in the club conceding just forty goals all season. Despite this White does lack some pace and at times can be undone by some questionable positioning. All that aside White works hard, has plenty of experience and is very vocal out on the field.
